Why canoeing on a stag weekend?
Canoeing was invented years ago, mostly by the natives of North America who needed a means to get around and they would dig out a hole in a large trunk and way to go, you have a canoe. Fortunately for stag parties, things have come a long way since then, and canoeing is no longer just a means of transport, it’s become a very popular recreational activity. This comes as no surprise with the mixture of agility, speed and strength you need to really master this activity. What’s great about canoeing on your stag weekend however is that you can choose from a number of different venues that cater for all abilities so if you’re seeking out some crazy rapids, or want to amble along the water, you can find a suitable venue for you.
What can you expect?
When you arrive at your venue, you’ll be taken through the important safety briefing that you’ll need to know to ensure you have a safe and fun activity. Then you’ll be kitted out with the required clothing and a helmet and shown to your canoes. In the water, you may also have a lesson from a trained instructor, before being taken along a river to practice what you’re learned and explore the beautiful Swansea scenery!
Swansea is a beautiful city and county in Wales, set on the south west Wales coast. It’s location makes it perfect for water sports and its beaches, like Swansea Bay are infamous for their picturesque settings. Not only does Swansea have some amazing scenery, it also has a fantastic nightlife on account of its student and young professional population. If you’re arriving by train, you can start your evening out along the High Street, sampling bars such as Champers Wine Bar, or the more traditional Shoulder of Mutton. Further into town down Castle Street and on to Wind Street you’ll find a hub of night spots ready to entertain you after your hard day’s canoeing. Why not pop into the Cross Keys Inn, or the chic Ice bar for a drink. If you like the area of Wind Street, you might want to stick around and sample some of the nightclubs in the area such as the Playnight club or club Reflex.
